Under normal circumstances, University students feel the burden of the stress and anxiety of performance both intellectually and socially. They are trying to decide who they want to be, choosing a profession, and considering a potential future with someone to love. They long to find their place and are walking on their own, often for the first time, without the direct presence of adults who have influenced them for most of their lives.

Due to the rapid progression of COVID-19, the mental health of University students has grown unstable and left a great need for support to recover from mental health issues. They suffer from isolation, along with the different impact on their learning and confidence in learning that virtual instruction creates. They grieve graduation ceremonies and miss out on closure in significant milestones in their life. They struggle with fear of an uncertain market for future employment. This generation faces new and uncharted anxieties and pressures.

When it comes to mental health, it is impossible to address the root cause of one’s symptoms until the problem itself is identified and diagnosed. Unfortunately, institutions like Princeton mark untreated mental illness as a “growing concern in the United States.”

In fact, some research indicates as much as 50 percent of University students suffering from a severe psychiatric disorder are receiving no treatment at all.

These huge life decisions and strains from COVID-19 incur a toll on University students’ mental health and it is no longer possible to ignore those struggling. Revitalist works to address the stigma and boundaries that exist when University students are dealing with mental health issues.

At the heart of the stigma lies the false belief that mental health issues are something a person can think their way out of. Though psychotherapy is a valuable tool, in many cases easing the symptoms of mental health conditions will require a multifaceted approach. In recognition of the reality of treatment, Revitalist’s team is multidisciplinary and designed to treat mental health from a number of independent angles.

Revitalist is changing the way we provide relief for mental health conditions for University students. The Revitalist method is modeled after the success of the collaborative dynamic of the hospital system. In doing so, Revitalist works with the patient’s entire communities to communicate and collaborate on a treatment plan for each individual. Due to the severity of conditions in many patients, Revitalist is structured to work in a collaborative effort with all of the patient’s providers from the initial intake throughout the treatment plan.

A vital part of the Revitalist process, the mental health pre-screening, is designed to combat this vast inadequacy in the current system. Revitalist’s counselors are expertly equipped to diagnose any number of mental health, mood, or psychiatric disorders at the beginning of every treatment plan.

  • Intimate therapy sessions designed to create meaningful bonds and relationships between counselors and patients
  • Innovative, evidence-based new treatments like ketamine infusions
  • Wellness optimization services like vitamin infusion or hydration therapy
  • Intensive outpatient programs that address a wide variety of dependencies, disorders, or conditions

If you are or know a University student, help them overcome the stigma of mental help. Tell them there is hope and a way forward. Encourage them. Tell them they don’t have to walk alone. There is help. There is a way.
